Importance of strategic partnerships in sustainable education solutions

As the world advances with the rapid growth of technology, the challenges to achieving an equal education for all increase. Although individual efforts from organizations, the private sector, and governments have a significant impact on creating better educational opportunities, working together is still crucial to overcome the complexity of the global economic and social transformation, especially after the pandemic.

The need

To actually see the impact we all aspire to see, cross-sector and strategic partnerships are essential (for all of us) to share knowledge, develop new innovative approaches, share skills, and to bring real transformation that stands the test of time.

With the collaborative support of the government sector to grant better access to all communities, the private sector to provide market-based solutions, and the academic sector to provide more resources, we will, together, achieve sustainable education goals for all communities.

As countries all over the world face many challenges with youth unemployment, which was worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic, joint efforts are required to provide the youth with education that caters to their career goals and increases their employment opportunities, thus contributing to the economic growth of their communities. Among the so many lessons the pandemic has imposed on us, one remains undeniable, the quick (integrated) response needed from every sector has been pivotal to help provide a smooth transition to online learning.

Without collective action, the online learning transition would have been even more challenging for students from around the world. So, to drive diverse and inclusive growth, and to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including sustainable education solutions, cross-sector partnerships are now needed more than ever.

Beyond the direct impact on economic, environmental, and social growth, coalitions also help build mutual trust between governments, businesses, and civil society. This trust will result in pumping more funds and investments into projects that provide education solutions and employment opportunities, thus creating a sustainable impact.

With great partnerships comes great responsibility. This means sharing risks, resources, expertise, benefits, and accountability. And these shared responsibilities make it smoother to implement bigger projects that benefit the community.

Building strong ties

Realizing the importance of forming strategic partnerships to achieve sustainable education goals is not enough, building and scaling effective partnerships is what makes all the difference.

To build strong partnerships, commitment is required. Commitment to drafting strategic plans, defining clear partners’ roles, effective implementation, and the monitoring and evaluation process for each plan.

The now and the future tool to success

Strategic partnerships are now considered a tool to achieve success. They are means to achieve great end goals; greater reach, greater impact, and greater sustainability — all of which are impossible for partners to achieve on their own.

These partnerships are driven by shared values, visions, and passion. However, they require hard work to build and sustain, but this hard work is essential if we wish to create a real, tangible impact to change today’s scene on a bigger scale for tomorrow’s generations.
